Abstract

This paper explores Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz’s approach in Tafseer ‘Fathul Aziz’ about the phenomenon of "Sellable Letters," also known as *Haroof Muqattat*, enigmatic letter combinations that appear at the beginning of several chapters (Surahs) in the Quran. These letters have been a subject of significant scholarly debate and interpretation within Islamic tradition. The study examines the various theories regarding their meaning, ranging from linguistic and mystical interpretations to their possible connection with the structure and content of the Surahs they precede. Through a comprehensive review of classical and contemporary scholarship, this research aims to uncover the role these letters play in Quranic exegesis and their broader significance within Islamic theology. Additionally, the paper investigates well known Scholar Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz’s approach about these letters and the implications of these letters for the understanding of the Quran's linguistic miracle (I'jaz) and their potential as a subject of interfaith dialogue. By analyzing the historical and theological context of *Haroof Muqattat*, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of this unique feature of the Quranic text.
