Abstract

Martin Lings (Shiekh Abubakar Siraj ud Din) was born in a protestant family in Manchester, Lancashire, UK on 24 January 1909. While living in America, he studied at Clifton College. He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford, and joined the circle of friends of his famous teacher CS Lewis. He had completed his BA and MA degrees from Oxford University, UK. Among his valued teachers are Rene Ginu (Sheikh Abdul Wahid Yahya) and Firth Jouf (Yahia Isa Nuruddin Ahmed Alavi). He spent a lot of time in Egypt, however, after the nationalist revolution of Jamal Abdul Nasser, he returned to Britain. His is an author of many books but his unique book which has been written on the life of Muhammad (PBUH) is of worth perusal.He died on May 12, 2005 at the age of 96 in England.
