Abstract

The tradition of letter writing in Urdu literature is very old. The history of calligraphy is centuries old and is constantly evolving. This paper covers the beginning of letter writing in Urdu, the initial characteristics of the letter, its nature, types, importance, utility, and a detailed review of its tradition. Through this paper, it will help to understand how the art of letter writing was used by Urdu writers as a genre to express their emotions and feelings and daily lives, and how they showed the essence of innovation and rarity in it. How much has it contributed to making it a mainstream genre?
