Abstract

Imam Shatbi's Theory of Ijtihad, a foundational idea in Islamic jurisprudence, is examined analytically in this study. By utilizing a meticulous research approach based on textual analysis and historical contextualization, the study seeks to clarify the nuances of Imam Shatbi's ideas and their relevance to modern legal debate. The main goal is to evaluate Imam Shatbi's theoretical framework critically, taking into account its applicability, relevance, and interpretive flexibility in the context of the larger Islamic legal tradition. This study takes a multipronged approach to analyzing Imam Shatbi's theoretical contributions, drawing from an extensive analysis of primary sources, secondary literature, and academic commentary. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties inherent in the concept of ijtihad as stated by Imam Shatbi by exploring the historical setting in which his views developed, as well as their reception and progression over time. The creation of hypotheses that act as tenets for the inquiry is essential to this study. Imam Shatbi's Theory of Ijtihad is said to be a comprehensive synthesis of traditional legal approaches, distinguished by a thorough comprehension of legal concepts, scriptural sources, and juristic reasoning.
