Abstract

Film is the best medium of entertainment. After its birth, filmmaking proved to be a unique invention of the modern age. Songs have great importance in the films of the subcontinent, and have been an integral part of films since the beginning of filmmaking. Poetry and film—notions and emotions have always been in a strong relationship. They tracked the human mind for proper propagation and found many professions for expression, for example, war, invention, and literature. Arrangements of beautiful and impressive words cast a profound effect on the minds and souls of human beings. Ghazal goo poets of the subcontinent like Meer Taqi Meer, Mirza Ghalib, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Sahir Ludhyanvi, Jiger Murad Abadi, Habib Jalib, Allama Iqbal, Gulzar, Saif uddin Saif, Kaifi Azmi, and Meer Anis, etc. left indelible prints on the minds of the audience, thus the entry of poetry became a part and parcel for films. Lively and laconic words of renowned ghazal goo poets with a combination of composer’s music become the hot cake for the exclusive success of a film. Songs generally perceived to be a very good entertainment that made its transition to film lyricism quite successful. The investors thought filmmaking was the most attractive source for better profits. Keeping in mind this article will analyze the songs of these poets.
